Meet Selsil: Proven Sealants & Adhesives Now in South Africa

An established name, newly available locally.

Selsil may be new to the South African market, but it is not new to the industry.

Backed by more than 35 years of European manufacturing expertise and trusted in over 115 countries, Selsil has built an international reputation across the construction, maintenance and home-improvement sectors. Its arrival gives South African retailers access to proven product technologies, supported locally by UpperEdge.

A strong range needs strong local support.

Introducing Selsil is not simply about placing more cartridges and cans on a shelf. UpperEdge supports the range with local distribution, product guidance and sales assistance.

Our goal is to help retail partners understand what each product does, where it should be used and what accessories may be required. This equips sales teams to answer customer questions more confidently and recommend complete, application-specific solutions.

Nine products. Four proven technologies.

Rather than launching an unnecessarily large range, we selected nine practical products covering the applications customers ask about most:

  • Silicones for flexible, water-resistant sealing in kitchens, bathrooms, glazing and general applications
  • Acrylics for paintable gaps, cracks, skirtings, cornices and interior finishing
  • Hybrid products for demanding applications requiring strong adhesion, flexibility and movement resistance
  • Polyurethane foam for filling, sealing and insulating cavities around doors, windows and other openings
Which Selsil, For Which Job?

Which Selsil, For Which Job?

Each product has a clearly defined purpose, making it easier for retail teams to guide customers towards the right solution while using shelf space efficiently.

Why the right formula matters

Silicones, acrylics, hybrid products and polyurethane foams are not interchangeable. Their formulas determine how they cure, which materials they adhere to and how they respond to moisture, movement, temperature changes and paint.

A silicone may be the correct choice for a wet area but unsuitable where the finished joint must be painted. An acrylic product works well for interior finishing and paintable repairs but is not intended to handle the same exposure or movement as a silicone or hybrid sealant. Polyurethane foam fills and insulates larger cavities, but it does not replace a finishing sealant.

Clear product positioning helps retailers provide better advice, reduces incorrect purchases and gives customers a greater chance of getting the job right the first time.

Are your products failing your customers?

When a customer asks, “What should I use for this job?”, the answer needs to be clear—and the product needs to perform.

An unsuitable adhesive or sealant can lead to failed bonds, cracked joints, wasted materials and costly rework. For retailers, it can also mean returns, frustrated customers and lost confidence. That is why UpperEdge has introduced Selsil to South Africa.

Selsil offers South African retailers a credible alternative built around international experience, focused product selection and competitive value. It is designed to meet repeat demand across construction, renovation, installation and maintenance—without asking customers to choose between dependable performance and affordability.
